Teachers from Little Falls Community Schools got together for a day of collaboration and learning on November 3, 2017. The calendar said it was a “teacher inservice” day, but this wasn’t a day of sitting in meetings or listening to speakers. Little Falls put on an “unconference” at the Community Middle School. Teachers selected the topics for discussions based on what they wanted to learn at the start of the day. Three different session times were offered throughout the morning and teachers were encouraged to move between sessions if they felt a discussion wasn’t applicable to them. A key benefit to the day was that teachers were not grouped by grade level or subject matter. Topics developed included everything from “Google Tools” and “Digital Resources” to “Arts Integration” and “Homework: What is reasonable?”
