Lindbergh Elementary Celebrates New Playground with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

October 15, 2025

Students, staff, and community members gathered at Lindbergh Elementary School on Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the school’s new playground. The event marked a significant moment in the school’s history, blending community pride with a touch of nostalgia.

Joining Principal Larry Edgerton for the ribbon cutting was Grandma Shirley, a special guest with a unique connection to the school. Shirley was a kindergartner when Lindbergh Elementary’s first playground was installed decades ago. Her presence underscored the long tradition of community investment in the school and its students.

“This playground is a wonderful example of what happens when a community comes together,” said Superintendent Greg Johnson. “It’s not just about building a structure; it’s about building connections, opportunities, and joy for our students.”

The playground project was made possible through the efforts and support of many individuals and groups, including the Lindbergh PTA. Their financial contributions and hands-on work turned a shared vision into reality.

Throughout the first weeks of the school year, Lindbergh students and staff showed remarkable patience as construction progressed. Without a playground since the start of the year, they adapted with creativity and positivity, eagerly watching the new equipment take shape each day. Principal Edgerton praised their flexibility, noting that their excitement made the opening celebration even more meaningful.

The new playground is designed to support a range of physical and social development for students of all abilities. Featuring modern climbing structures, accessible spaces, and interactive elements, the playground will enhance recess experiences for years to come.

The students had a great time exploring and enjoying the new playground during recess, filling the space with laughter and excitement. The ceremony highlighted not only the completion of a project but the power of community collaboration and the shared commitment to creating joyful, engaging spaces for children.
