This holiday season the LFCHS Student Council is teaming up with the Kare Kloset--our school-based program to help students and families in need--to participate in our annual “Food Drive: Stock the Shelves” challenge. The Kare Kloset is in need of specific items, so the student council has assigned a point value to these foods and basic necessities. With a school-wide goal of collecting 12,000 points and a traveling trophy on the line for the advisory accumulating the most points, competition will be intense!

But wait...the public is invited to help us reach our goal! How can you do this? You could drop off donations at the high school during conferences on Monday, December 10, 2018, from 3:45-6:45 pm or send items with your student.

The challenge runs from December 6-17. Requested items and point values are detailed below:

1 Point Items: Ramen noodles (per three packages), Container of Oatmeal (plain), Body wash/Bar Soap, Hairbrush, Toothbrush, Dental Floss, Mac and Cheese, Shampoo, Conditioner, Comb, Toothpaste, Package of Hair Binders

2 Point Items: Ketchup, Mustard, Fruit Snacks (per 12 count), Cereal (per 14 oz.), Deodorant

3 Point Items: Flavored Oatmeal (per 12 count), Buns (per package), Hot Dogs (per 10 count), Butter (per pound), Packages of Meat (per pound), Lunch Meat (per pound), Cash Donations (checks written to: LFCHS Student Council...valued at 3 points per dollar)

5 Point Items: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Bread, Granola Bars (per 8 pk), Pancake Mix and Syrup, Soup (not any types of cream soups), Noodles, Spaghetti Sauce, Feminine Products

One of the many student activities at LFCHS is student council. Student representatives and advisors, Katie Riitters and Sheila Watercott, pride themselves on bettering our school. According to student council president Emma, they are “currently working diligently to incorporate a composting system into the high school. After doing plenty of research, we have realized that the easiest way to create compost at our school is by using a tumbler. A composting tumbler makes turning the compost, a key factor to creating usable compost, much easier.” #LittleFallsFlyers #FlyerPride

"Passionate, pertinent, and personal were the words shared by Little Falls Community Schools Superintendent, Stephen Jones, to Mr. Kula's Freshmen AVID Elective class. Mr. Jones made connections with students by regaling stories of his family experiences in Pennsylvania, the factors leading to his decision to attend and play baseball in Minnesota, his drive and work ethic to reach his dreams, and his unfailing belief that everyone can be successful if they take control of their lives and make decisions that lead to their goals. Mr. Jones emphasized the importance of the AVID program and its impact on college-bound students. He encouraged everyone to get involved with their school and community, practice their communication skills, and take advantage of the LFCHS internship program." (As shared by Mr. Kula)
