SCHOOL CLOSING CRITERIA
The primary consideration is the safety of students. School administration, in consultation with our bus companies, bases school closing decisions on the ability to safely transport students. We consider weather reports, visibility, existing snow, road conditions, temperature, wind, daylight hours, and recommendations from highway departments.
WHAT SHOULD PARENTS/FAMILIES DO
Listen, watch, or check online for weather-related school announcements. Please do not call the school, school personnel, or bus companies. These phone lines must remain open for weather-related communication and emergencies.
The decision to have school during inclement weather is based on our ability to safely transport students. However, if a parent feels it is unsafe for their child to attend, they should keep their child home. The final decision to send a student to school always rests with the parent or guardian.
E-LEARNING
For the 2025–2026 school year, the first school closing due to inclement weather will be a “No Make-Up” day, as indicated on the school district calendar. In the event of a second school closure due to inclement weather, Little Falls Community Schools will operate with an E-Learning Day for students and staff.
For more information about e-learning days and school work expectations, please visit our district E-Learning page.
EARLY CLOSINGS
Notice of an early closing will be given through the same sources listed above. Families should have alternate child care plans in place and clearly explained to their student. If students go home and no one is there, make sure they have a way to get into the house and appropriate supervision.
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
When school is canceled because of inclement weather, normally all extra curricular activities are canceled as well. If weather improves, some practices may still be held. It remains the parent’s decision whether or not their student participates. No student will be penalized for not participating on a day when school has been canceled.
When school is closed early because of inclement weather, all extra curricular activities will be canceled.
